About this Position

Oklahoma State University-OKC (OSU-OKC) and OSUIT seek an individual who can lead key institutional initiatives related to instructional partnerships, accreditation, and student success forward to serve as the Assistant Vice President for Instruction, Accreditation, and Student Success (AVPIAS). The AVPIAS will serve as one of the Provost's strategic liaisons with the university and the community, cultivating and maintaining strong relationships to ensure partnerships are documented to meet accreditation standards. The AVPIAS will be responsible for the strategic oversight and operational execution of assessment and accreditation functions that support student success at OSU-OKC and OSUIT.

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D./Ed.D. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
    • Minimum of 5 years of full-time higher education teaching experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years of department head experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of dean experience
    • Record of experience with program accreditation
    • Record of experience leading student success initiatives
    • Record of experience leading concurrent student initiatives
    • Record of experience in developing and executing MOUs with university partners including school districts and other universities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in finalizing MOUs or articulation agreements between higher education and other partners; successful experience in accreditation; successful experience in student success initiatives that lead to increased persistence and graduation rates; record as a successful higher education administrator with over ten combined years of experience as a department head and dean.

 

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
    • Proven leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills with an exceptional ability to analyze, plan, coordinate, articulate, and execute complex projects and initiatives.
    • Outstanding organizational, problem-solving, management, and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to articulate matters of complexity and nuance to multiple and varied audiences in both planned and extemporaneous situations.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coordinate, manage and motivate diverse, high-performing teams related to accreditation and student success.
    • Understanding of the complexities of university academic programming, assessment, and accreditation.
    • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, discretion, and sensitivity to confidentiality.
    • Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
    • Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.

Essential Job Functions

Administration

  • Oversee the development of MOUs and other agreements between OSU-OKC and OSUIT and partners for the Provost.
  • Support the development and implementation of institutional procedures, collaborating with university leaders, governance groups, and stakeholders across the University.
  • Support the Provost in pursuing and documenting partnerships that support the university mission.
  • Provide oversight and leadership for departments that directly report to position, including hiring, training, supervision and evaluation.

Student success initiatives

  • Implement programs and policies to support student retention, academic achievement, and overall well-being.

Collaboration with stakeholders

  • Work closely with deans, department heads, faculty, staff, and industry partners to achieve academic goals.

Data analysis and reporting

  • Monitor key performance indicators and utilize data to inform decision-making.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include some nights and weekends.
  • Work will be performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone, via email, and various communication platforms.
  • May be occasional changes in work schedule due to participation in public. relations, outreach, student advisement, and other campus activities.
  • In-state travel to include exposure to outside conditions as relates to program. cultural events and activities. Occasional overnight stay may be required.
  • Occasional out-of-state travel for trainings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking and listening.
  • Duties require extensive use of computers, telephone and other office equipment.
  • Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (If an object weights more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
  • Must be able to drive participants on visits to post-secondary institutions, career site visits and cultural events.
