Instruct and monitor students in the Dental Hygiene Program in accordance with the curriculum standards and objectives.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Dental Hygiene Instructor to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will bring clinical expertise, educational experience, and a commitment to student success to this part-time teaching role.
Primary Responsibilities Teaching and Instruction- Deliver engaging classroom instruction aligned with program objectives and established curriculum
- Develop and implement effective daily lesson plans and learning activities
- Provide individualized tutoring support to students as needed
- Monitor and evaluate student performance through various assessment methods
- Track student attendance and academic progress
- Maintain accurate student records and grade documentation
- Collaborate with the Program Director to develop remediation plans for struggling students
- Provide academic counseling in coordination with the Clinical Director and Program Director
- Ensure compliance with academic policies and procedures
- Participate in faculty meetings and departmental activities
- Maintain current knowledge of dental hygiene practices and teaching methodologies
- Collaborate with Student Services Coordinator for additional student support needs
- Document and report student progress according to institutional policies
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited academic institution
- Graduate of a CODA-accredited Dental Hygiene program
- Current dental hygiene license/certification as required by local, state, and federal regulations
- Minimum three years of full-time clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist or Dentist
- Demonstrated knowledge of current dental hygiene practices and procedures
- Background in educational methodology relevant to teaching assignments
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in an academic environment
- Commitment to student success and professional development
This position requires standing, sitting, and moving around the classroom environment. The ability to demonstrate clinical procedures and assist students with learning activities is essential.
