ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Delivery of classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to students.
- Provides an orientation of the students to each clinical facility before beginning the clinical experience.
- Ensures that each student is identified as a student in a manner easily recognizable to Clients, family members, visitors, and staff.
- Plans for the classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences.
- Completes a skills checklist that demonstrates the satisfactory performance of all required skills for each student.
- Completes and maintains student records such as attendance, test scores, etc.
- Ensures that students do not perform any services for which they have not been trained and have been found proficient.
- The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or an otherwise recognized training entity (e.g., hospital-based program) in nursing or an institution outside the United States and its territories nursing. OR
- Four (4) years of job-related training and experience for instructors not graduates from an accredited nursing program.
- One (1) year of full-time experience (or 1500 hours) providing direct care as a registered nurse.
- One of the following:
- Completion of a three (3) semester credit course on adult teaching and learning concepts offered by an accredited post-secondary educational institution;
- Completion of a 40-hour continuing education program in adult teaching and learning concepts that an accredited organization awarded continuing education credit;
- One (1) year of full-time or 1500 hours of experience teaching adults as a faculty member or clinical educator;
- One (1) year of full-time or 1500 hours of experience supervising nursing assistants and or concurrent with the one (1) year of experience.
- Current license, certification, or another credential required by local, state, and federal laws to work in the nursing field.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and computer skills.
