Position Summary
The Project Manager will provide comprehensive project management services to support Long Beach Airport's terminal and engineering projects. This role requires expertise in terminal operations, FAA grant funding processes, airport authority coordination, and engineering principles. The selected candidate will oversee all phases of project execution, from planning through construction, ensuring compliance with regulations and alignment with Airport objectives.
The role involves close collaboration with Long Beach Airport staff, external consultants, and contractors to deliver high-quality, efficient, and compliant airport projects. The Project Manager will act as the Owner's representative, facilitating communication among stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals, and driving results in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Position Responsibilities

    • Assist the Senior Project Manager in all phases of project management, including planning, procurement, design review, cost control, and risk management.
    • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
    • Serve as a liaison between contractors, engineers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Support the review and approval process for bid packages, design plans, and procurement documents.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project alignment with operational goals and compliance standards.
    • Aid in the oversight of daily construction activities, ensuring adherence to quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) standards and operational requirements.
    • Facilitate construction logistics, including material procurement and subcontractor coordination.
    • Support safety compliance through regular inspections and enforcement of safety standards.
    • Organize and lead progress meetings, preparing detailed reports for senior management.
    • Act as the Owner's representative, engaging with stakeholders, senior management, and end users to ensure project alignment with goals.
    • Manage stakeholder communication effectively, including updates on schedules, budgets, and changes.
    • Prepare and present project progress reports, ensuring transparency and alignment across all parties.
    • Develop and manage project budgets, track costs, and provide financial analyses to the Senior Project Manager.
    • Monitor and control expenditures, ensuring financial discipline across the project lifecycle.
    • Assist in the preparation and approval of change orders.
    • Ensure compliance with all aviation and safety regulations, local building codes, and environmental standards.
    • Collaborate with regulatory bodies, including the FAA, to maintain adherence to grant funding and operational requirements.
    • Assist in preparing documentation for regulatory submissions and inspections.

Position Qualifications
    • Strong administrative, management, and organizational skills required.
    • Deep understanding of terminal operations, FAA grant funding processes, and airport authority regulations required.
    • Knowledge of engineering principles and construction materials and methods required.
    • Proficiency in budget management, cost estimation, and project scheduling tools required.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills required.
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred. 
    • Professional certifications in project management or engineering (e.g., PMP, PE) preferred.
    • Experience managing airport terminal projects or large-scale infrastructure projects preferred.
    • Familiarity with City procurement rules, airport authority protocols, and FAA funding processes preferred.

$150,000 - $175,000 a year The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $175,000.  A hired employee will be placed within this salary range based on a variety of legitimate business reasons, including but not limited to the individual's scope of relevant experience and geographic location. Additional Requirements   Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.   Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.    About PMA   At PMA, employee well-being is a daily priority.
