Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Executive Chef to join our team. As the Executive Chef, you will oversee all culinary operations, ensuring that we consistently provide delicious, high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision: Lead and supervise kitchen and dining room staff, ensuring smooth operations both front and back of house. Manage scheduling, assignments, and performance reviews in accordance with company policies.
- Menu Planning & Execution: Design innovative and seasonal menus that emphasize quality ingredients within the community's food and labor budget. Plan and execute special events, banquets, and themed meals.
- Budget & Cost Control: Maintain monthly and annual budgets for the Food & Beverage department, including tracking food, supply, and labor expenses. Regularly review menus to adapt to supply chain changes and seasonal ingredients.
- Vendor Management: Ensure strong, positive relationships with vendors. Monitor inventory, purchasing, and product quality. Maintain compliance with company purchasing standards.
- Training & Development: Provide ongoing training for kitchen staff on food preparation, presentation, and service quality. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including food storage and handling.
- Resident & Family Interaction: Regularly meet with residents and family members to ensure satisfaction. Address dietary needs and special requests to meet or exceed expectations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the administrative team, marketing, and activities personnel to plan and execute unique events and initiatives that support the overall community experience.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all food preparation and presentation meet Discovery Senior Living's standards for excellence. Focus on minimizing waste and preventing overproduction.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise kitchen staff, including the hiring, training, and performance management of culinary and food & beverage team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts preferred; or an associate degree with a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of experience as an Executive Chef in a senior living or hospitality setting.
- Current ServSafe Certification required.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a dynamic kitchen team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
