Working with Richardson opens the door to a world of possibility. We currently have an opportunity for a Product Development Scientist (Term) located at our Richardson Innovation Centre in downtown Winnipeg. This position is responsible for bringing new food and ingredients to the marketplace while providing technical support to sales and operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, investigate and execute product innovation projects that support customer needs within the marketplace

  • Develop and commercialize food products from product prototype and plant trials to commercialization of products

  • Prepare and assess test formulations for new and enhanced products

  • Assess, troubleshoot and resolve customer complaints and product line issues in collaboration with sales and operations

  • Present new products and changes to sales, operations and customers

  • Develop ingredient supplier packaging specifications in collaboration with sales and operations

  • Oversee the collection of samples, analyze results and make recommendations for process improvements

  • Interpret and adhere to regulatory and company policies and procedures

  • Keep abreast of new trends in oats and canola-based products

Qualifications:

  • Degree in food science, chemistry or biochemistry supplemented with 3 – 5 years product innovation or quality assurance experience in the food industry

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to present findings to stakeholders

  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities

  • Strong understanding of food and ingredient production and processes to translate laboratory concepts to finished products

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and trends with food and ingredients
