Richardson Oilseed is one of Canada's oldest and largest fully-integrated oilseed processing and packaging operations with three facilities across Canada. In addition to producing bulk canola oil and meal, our food products division produces a wide variety of canola-based margarines, oils and shortenings for the industrial, retail and food service markets. We currently have an opportunity for a Quality Assurance Technician at our Portage la Prairie, MB location.  A Quality Assurance technician is responsible for ensuring raw material, in-process blends and finished products meet food safety and quality requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather product samples within the manufacturing environment

  • Conduct inspection & testing on finished product according to specifications

  • Analyze product for characteristics such as moisture, weight, water hydration and particle size and apply all test information into the database

  • Initiate, communicate and track all product non-conformances to the specification

  • Create and release certificates of analysis for all customers upon request

  • Collect retained samples and maintain quality & food safety parameters

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Excellent computer, written, documentation and verbal communication skills

  • Must be willing to work day and night shifts, as well as overtime

  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is an asset
