Organization Overview

We investigate the regulatory mechanisms of RNA interference, microRNA-mediated translational control, and RNA-guided chromatin modifications. Classical and combinatorial biochemical techniques are used to analyze the function of the RNA- and protein-components involved in those processes.
Overview

The Research Specialist will be responsible for handling small molecule drug discovery technical workflow under supervision by PhD/MD scientists and/or Head of Laboratory. This would include development of biochemical assays for monitoring drug inhibition, performing biophysical assays to inform on affinity, preparation and measurement of concentration series using 96- and 384-well plate format and plate readers. Experience in production and handling of recombinant protein required.


Responsibilities

Outside the project specific workflow, the Research Specialist would also be responsible for mentoring new research assistants or students and conduct or coordinate the following tasks:

  • Ordering and pick-up of laboratory supplies
  • Ordering and maintaining equipment (service contracts) including desktop computers
  • Organizing dishwashing and autoclaving of glassware
  • Production of reagents for common use (culture medium, buffers, working solutions)
  • Maintaining regulatory documents (safety training, biosafety, recombinant DNA inventory, equipment inventory, radioactivity room and its order and waste disposal)

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in science required and at least 1 year experience as research assistant
  • Computer proficiency with Excel and Word

Preferred:

  • An educational emphasis in Biochemistry

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.


Compensation Range: Min

USD $60,000.00/Yr.
Compensation Range: Max

USD $70,000.00/Yr.
