Organization Overview
Consistent with our scientific mission, The Rockefeller University established the Ford Center Incubator to support and help grow biotechnology start-ups. The incubator is located in newly renovated space on the university campus on the Upper East Side of New York City. Providing laboratory and office spaces, shared equipment and meeting spaces, resources, and services, the incubator offers an environment where biotech entrepreneurs can develop their ideas and products collaboratively and cost-effectively to advance their life science ventures.
Overview
Reporting to the Laboratory Operations Manager of the Ford Center Incubator, the Research Support Assistant will assist in the day-to-day maintenance and operations of the laboratory facilities, including but not limited to handling all receiving and distribution of chemicals to clients, maintaining common supplies, gas tanks and equipment. The candidate will work with the Laboratory Operations Manager to ensure that clients operate in a safe manner that is compliant with Incubator and University policy.
Responsibilities
Assist the Laboratory Operations Manager in the laboratory operations and administration of the Ford Center Incubator, including but not limited to:
- Receiving and evaluating of all chemical and reagent deliveries
- Organizing, stocking, and maintaining common laboratory supplies
- Working with University Laboratory Safety and Environmental Health to ensure all chemical and biohazardous waste is appropriately labeled and disposed of
- Ensuring common areas are clean and organized
- Calibrating common equipment as appropriate and monitoring/maintaining usage logs
- Providing technical assistance as appropriate to clients on the usage of instrumentation
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field is required
- 2+ years' experience working in a multi-user scientific laboratory setting, either in an academic or commercial context, including independent research experiences from coursework or internships
- Possess an interest in life science, operations, and entrepreneurship
- Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment and to prioritize effectively
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
- Must be able to do a significant amount of standing, walking and be able to lift 50 lbs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- An advanced degree is preferred
- Prior experience working in a biotech incubator/accelerator environment is highly desired, either as a laboratory user or as part of the organization's operations
- Experience with liquid handlers, qPCR, FPLC is desired
- C14 holder is desirable

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

USD $50,000.00/Yr.
Compensation Range: Max
USD $60,000.00/Yr.
