Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Executive Office Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: The Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer and Executive Director, Roswell Park Alliance Foundation leads the fundraising efforts for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. In this capacity, the individual serves as Executive Director of the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, the designated beneficiary responsible for managing and distributing all charitable dollars intended to benefit Roswell Park.

Each year, the Alliance Foundation secures nearly 100,000 gifts, raising an average of $30 million annually, and distributes millions of dollars to Roswell Park through grant awards and restricted donation allocations. Established as a separate 501(c)(3) organization in 1991, the Foundation has raised over $655 million in charitable contributions—nearly one-third of that total in the past five years. Today, the Foundation enjoys philanthropic support from an annual donor base of approximately 100,000 unique households, contributing about $30 million annually through a comprehensive program that includes special events, peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns, cause marketing initiatives, corporate partnerships, annual mail appeals, acquisition mailings, foundation grants, and individual major and principal gifts.

The position is responsible for developing programs and events that enhance charitable giving and for creating campaigns to raise funds for clinical, research, and endowment priorities that support Roswell Park's mission-critical work. Additionally, this role oversees the Organization's active volunteer program of more than 300 volunteers, including the prestigious Art Committee and Arts in Healthcare Program, as well as a retail Gift Shop generating over $500,000 in annual revenue. The position also manages the Vice President of Patient Experience, which includes the Medical Concierge Service and Patient Access, and oversees special projects, such as coordinating external corporate sponsorships for community nonprofit events and neighborhood organizations.

Our competitive salary range for the Chief Development Officer is commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

License Requirement
Recognized licensure, if required, to perform the functions of the position.
Education and Experience
1. Doctoral degree and the equivalent of eight (8) years of progressively responsible senior-level experience including eighteen (18) months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or
2. Master's degree and the equivalent of ten (10) years of progressively responsible senior-level experience including eighteen (18) months experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or
3. Any combination of education/experience/training that demonstrates the ability of the individual to perform executive-level duties and fulfill the responsibilities of the Senior Vice President. However, all candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and have the equivalent of at least eighteen (18) months' experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; stated in 1 or 2 above.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and the equivalent of ten (10) years of progressively responsible senior-level development experience, including three (3) years experience in a large team supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial, or executive capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible senior-level development experience, including three (3) years experience in a large team supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial, or executive capacity.
  • Proven experience in soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of major principal gifts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large, complex organization with expertise in all advancement methodologies, including large-scale special events, peer-to-peer online campaigns, individual and principal gifts, corporate giving, annual fund, and foundation support.
  • Strong management skills to evaluate services and guide subordinates in managing their respective departments.
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud database management systems and proficiency in leveraging online and social media resources for fundraising.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and to motivate others toward achieving common goals.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, with exceptional command of language for both written and verbal interactions.
