Title: Programmer Analyst II

Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Information Technology Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: The candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team including technical and business subject matter experts to support the digital transformation of the quality and patient safety department at Roswell Park. They will provide source of truth data, visualizations, and analytics through interactive dashboards, operational tools and reports, and integrations with third party applications and data sources. This position will support automated data extraction and analysis from various electronic sources, the development of organizational metrics, implementation of online tools and dashboards to improve and automate processes, streamline workflows, and address operational gaps. The candidate will support reporting of clinical EHR, scheduling, registration, quality, and other data for use throughout Roswell Park. Primary support will be to the quality and patient safety department enabling efficient and effective reporting of key KPIs to external regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders. Actionable, detailed data will also be presented for end user consumption, supporting data driven business decisions to change behavior and improve outcomes. The successful candidate will be a data reporting expert with the ability to translate between business and clinic needs to suggest technology solutions. They will learn organizational workflows and associated database touchpoints required for effective reporting.  The candidate will help to ensure that the reporting needs of Roswell Park are met and will assist in transformative efforts to continually improve the way patient care is delivered.  Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

1. Master's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, management information systems or a related field; or
2. Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, data science, management information systems or a related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time software development experience; or
3. Associates degree in computer science, engineering, data science, management information systems or a related field and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time software development experience; or
4. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma with a diploma or certificate in a computer science, or related field and the equivalent of six (6) years of full-time software development experience.  

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates must have experience with data extraction, manipulation, and analysis using SQL and relational databases. They must be able to query, manipulate, and cross-reference data from multiple systems to provide cross-functional metrics and develop custom interactive dashboards in business intelligence tools such as Power BI.  Additional experience developing extract-transform-load (ETL) processes, consuming data from REST APIs, and data warehousing is preferred as are skills in programming languages including PHP and Python. Preference will be given to candidates with advanced skills in both Power BI desktop, Power BI Report Builder, and the use of git for version control (e.g., GitHub/GitLab). Previous experience working in a healthcare setting analyzing quality and patient safety data is ideal.
