Roush has an immediate need for a Powertrain OBD Calibration Development Engineer Senior to join our team. The Powertrain On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Calibration Engineer Senior will develop, validate, and calibrate diagnostic functions for future automotive programs. The role will work with manufacturer's software to develop on-road and laboratory calibrations. The Powertrain OBD Calibration Engineer Senior will interact with all levels of a program both internally and externally. This position is located in Livonia, MI.

As a Powertrain OBD Calibration Engineer Senior, you will:

  • Support all technical aspects of the OBD diagnostic calibrations to meet California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations
  • Identify system requirements during system hardware design to insure a robust diagnostic system
  • Use standard instrumentation toolsets for data acquisition, storage, and analysis, calibrate diagnostic thresholds, report on calibration status, and help with the generation of OBD applications and supporting documentation
  • Develop algorithms and software for engine control systems with emphasis on OBD, failure mode effects management, and regulatory compliance for the major monitors
  • Utilize Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) software and control algorithms to develop calibrations in laboratory and on-road environments
  • Analyze test results, develop and execute actions to provide solutions for issues
  • Conduct in-vehicle calibration evaluations and diagnostic robustness assessments
  • Perform Production Vehicle Evaluation (PVE) and Manufacturer Self Testing (MST) procedures
  • Perform hot and cold climate and high-altitude development testing to meet product objectives
  • Provide positive technical contributions in a project team environment, and mentor less experienced engineers
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, diagnostic documentation for regulatory applications, and presentations to the group and customer management teams
  • Support the validation and release of the calibrations into production
  • Address technically challenging programs and coach junior engineers on solutions

To be considered as a Powertrain OBD Calibration Engineer Senior, you will need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • Minimum 4 years of powertrain calibration experience at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier
  • Experience with OBD diagnostic calibration, validation, and documentation
  • Vehicle and/or dynamometer-based OBD calibration development experience
  • Integrated Calibration and Application Tool (ETAS INCA) or Accurate Technologies, Inc. (ATI) Vision calibration tools experience
  • MATLAB or Simulink, and software documentation experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of modern powertrain operation
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate in a team environment with both written and verbal communication
  • Ability to lead and mentor team members
  • Good driving record
  • Ability to travel approximately 2-4 weeks per year for testing

A successful Powertrain OBD Calibration Engineer Senior may also have:

  • Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle
  • Possess or ability to obtain CDL B license
