The Test Instrumentation Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the readiness of emissions equipment, supporting test equipment and instrumentation for efficient operation of engine and vehicle testing in a laboratory environment. The role will include supporting the programming of test cell automation systems in support of the engine and vehicle testing. The Test Instrumentation Specialist will work in concert with Lab Technicians, Operations support personnel, and Test Engineers in executing customer-based test requests.As a Test Instrumentation Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Maintains and troubleshoots engine and vehicle emissions measurement systems for critical Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources BOARD CARB certification testing as well as general development testing
- Perform test cell automation system programming in support of highly technical engine and vehicle development and certification testing
- Maintains test cell operations, data acquisition systems, installs, programs, troubleshoots, repairs and assembles test systems, general and specialized instrumentation
- Integration of emissions and measurement equipment into test cell automation systems
- Installs, operates, modifies, and troubleshoots PCs and PC networks used for test lab activities
- Evaluates and specifies new equipment; develops new technology; installs and maintains electronic engine monitoring systems
- Maintains parts and equipment inventories
- Reads and interprets electrical wiring diagrams
- Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
- Suggests new process improvements
- Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions
To be considered as a Test Instrumentation Specialist, you will need:
- No previous experience required
- Associate degree in an automotive field or related technical certification(s)
- Experience with calibration and maintenance on test instrumentation and equipment
- Must be proactive, hardworking, and resilient
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints and equipment user manuals
- Must be proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment
- Knowledge of and ability to perform testing network maintenance, programming and software updates
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
A successful candidate may also have:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
- Minimum of 3 years of automotive testing experience
- Knowledge of automotive testing equipment
- Knowledge of AVL or A&D testing systems and equipment
- Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) testing methods
