SAIC is seeking a CAD Designer to join our Middletown, RI team who will be responsible for providing drafting support to complete complex assembly models and drawings.

Candidate will be an integral part of the team creating/updating Technical Data Packages; being familiar with ASME standards, Technical Data Packages, and MIL-STD desired. The CAD Designer / Drafter will coordinate frequently with the mechanical engineering teams for current assignments to meet the customer demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide active drafting support to complete large complex 3D parts and assemblies as well as 2D drawings using SOLIDWORKS software for Technical Data Packages (TDP).
  • Create/modify solid models, assemblies, and drawings from redlines and technical meetings as well as maintain configuration management and quality control of engineering drawings.
  • Seek work with engineers, technicians, and other draftsmen to produce drawings that meet their design specifications with minimal supervision.
  • Provide support to product receiving team to inspect incoming purchased equipment/parts with CMM and other analysis/measurement equipment.
  • Provide feedback to engineers, technicians, and other draftsmen on the manufacturability of their designs and drawings features such as specified GD&T, notes, and QC requirements.
  • Candidate must display a strong attention to detail, be able to work within deadlines, and be capable of working within a large design team.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • AA Degree in related discipline and six years related experience; or High School and eight years of related experience with relevant certification.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain SECRET clearance.
  • Experience designing with SolidWorks.
  • Experience in OrCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, PADS and/or Altium preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio).
  • Ability to read and interpret redlines in an engineering drawing.
  • Understanding of basic electrical/mechanical principles of design.
