We are seeking a highly motivated Data Engineer to join our National Intelligence Program supporting the development, operations and maintenance, and modernization of a complex, hybrid on-premises and cloud enterprise IT environment. As a Data Engineer, you will work to support program transitions and modernization efforts by providing leadership to a few agile integrated product teams consisting of DevSecOps Engineers, Cyber Security Engineers, Data Architects, System Administrators, Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Subject matter experts developing capabilities to include data visualization tools, cross domain capabilities, data ingestions, extraction, and modeling, multi-cloud computing, cybersecurity, data science and analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning implementation. You will be a part of an agile, fast paced team focused on increasing data throughput, integrity, security, as well as availability of enterprise software solutions. This position is in Chantilly, VA.
**This contract is expected to be awarded in Summer 2025.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with data architects and project managers to develop comprehensive data migration strategies for structured (e.g., relational databases) and unstructured data (e.g., documents, media).
- Use Qlik Replicate for real-time replication, Change Data Capture (CDC), and data migration from source databases to target environments.
- Design, implement, and optimize Talend ETL/ELT pipelines for batch processing and transformation of structured and unstructured data.
- Ensure data integration across diverse sources (on-premises, cloud, ADLS, databases) into platforms like Azure, AWS, and Dataverse.
- Automate tasks such as data validation, transformation, and reconciliation to ensure efficiency and consistency.
- Perform data profiling, cleansing, and transformation to support accurate mapping and merging of data formats.
- Conduct thorough testing (unit, integration, performance) and ensure the accuracy and completeness of migrated data.
- Troubleshoot data migration issues, optimize performance, and provide post-migration support.
- Create and maintain documentation for ETL workflows, data migration scripts, and configuration settings.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to provide status updates and resolve data-related challenges.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest data engineering tools, technologies, and best practices.
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Data Engineering, or related technical field of study with a minimum of 12 years of experience (or Master's degree equivalent)
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of total professional experience in a technical setting as a Data Engineer, or related role.
- Proficiency with Talend, Qlik Replicate, and cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with Talend for ETL/ELT processes and Qlik Replicate for data replication and CDC.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS for data migration and storage.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data architecture, and data governance principles.
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as experience with large-scale data integration projects.
- Proficiency in working with both structured (relational databases, data warehouses) and unstructured data (files, NoSQL, media).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across teams.
- Experience developing requirements for the integration of data services, and requirements for a centralized data catalog, and developing requirements for data management technology.
- Experience participating in data standards committees to drive/manage operational data standards to include investigating, implementing, improving, and converting legacy data standards.
- Applying new data technologies, data management processes, system analysis principles and techniques, process engineering concepts, and assessing data solutions for compliance and conformance with guidelines and policies.
- Understanding of the use and maintenance of data dictionaries, data models, and data maps in an enterprise business software environment.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced mission environment which requires balancing competing priorities and schedules.
Desired Experience:
- Have a depth of experience in data science, to include demonstrated experience with programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL), statistical programs (e.g. R and MS Excel), and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, QlikView).
- Database administrator certification such as AWS, Microsoft, Oracle, or MongoDB.
- Demonstrated experience with data architecture tools to include or similar to ER/Studio, Erwin or Lucid Chart.
- Have experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
Clearance:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess and active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
