Join a winning team!  SAIC is seeking an In-Plant Space Systems Engineer to join the Space and Intelligence Business Group providing systems engineering and technical advisory services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer. SAIC is seeking an In-Plant Space Systems Engineer to work in our Melbourne, FL area office overseeing contractor activities and operations within their facility. The successful candidate will have the experience providing Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services and acting as a representative for the IC customer during the execution of complex space and ground efforts as part of an exciting and innovative set of programs. 

 

In this role, you will represent an acquisition Systems Program Office (SPO), perform space systems development, and provide direct and technical support to the Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) and members of the SPO technical team. You will sit on-site with development contractor personnel and interact on a daily basis with program management, technical staff, and other support personnel.

 

The in-plant space system engineer will join a team of off-site SETAs with responsibilities that may include but are not limited to the following:  

 

·       Provide periodic status of in-plant activities to the COTR and/or the Government technical team.

·       Monitor all space vehicle system engineering, design, development, production, qualification, integration, test and test data review activities.

·       Monitor contractor activities for test equipment development and use, integration and test, and discrepancy reporting and resolution.

·       Monitor all quality assurance activities.

·       Monitor parts selection and usage.

·       Monitor space vehicle and spacecraft mission assurance activities.

·       Witness subsystem test activities and coordinate test data review with SPO personnel.

·       Represent the program office at Contractor meetings, as needed.

·       Review and provide technical evaluation of contractor submitted Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) items or other technical design documentation, as needed.

·       Work closely with the Contractor to help ensure the program office understands any schedule and technical changes, as needed.

·       Participate with the Contractor team during tabletop reviews of draft technical documents, working group meetings, Integrated Process Team (IPT) meetings, Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), Post-Test Data Reviews (PTDRs), Material Review Boards (MRBs), Failure Review Boards (FRBs) meetings, and Engineering Review Boards (ERBs) as prioritized by the COTR and/or Government technical team.

·       Attend SPO and development contractor meetings at the request of the COTR and/or Government technical team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

·       Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

·       Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and 9 years or more relevant experience; Master's degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline and 7 years or more relevant experience.

·       Effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills.

·       Strong written and interpersonal skills.

·       Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment.

·       Proven knowledge of process management and application of Command Media tailored to meet program-specific requirements.

·       Knowledge of how space systems are designed, specified, developed, manufactured, and tested.

·       Experience interacting with and leading technical staff, contractors, and government representatives

 

Desired Qualifications: 

·       Prior experience as an in-plant representative for a major space system.

·       Prior experience as a developmental contractor in a lead technical role for a major space system.
