SAIC is seeking a Launch Communication System Engineer to provide engineering and requirements integration services to the Service Coordination Cell Launch (SCCL) Commander.  Responsibilities include defining mission-unique requirements, tracking requirements implementation, identifying risks, and proposing risk mitigation strategies.  Represents SCCL at various service delivery and operations boards, technical forums, and readiness review teams.

Specifics of Primary Duties:

  • Serves as the primary technical advisor to the SCCL Commander
  • Assists in production, review and delivery of launch requirements and operations support government policies between SCCL and mission partner organizations
  • Performs technical requirements reviews and assessments for the SCCL Commander; enables tracing, reporting, and implementation status in support of critical launch operations
  • Tracks and reports service communications outages/issues providing situational awareness to SCCL leadership; attends Major Incident, Problem and Change Management Boards to assess and provide operational impacts to launch operations
  • Represents SCCL as primary point of contact for Readiness Review Teams for each launch mission; monitors/tracks launch requirements processing, advises management on implementation schedules or issues; identifies risks and proposes mitigation strategies
  • Monitors service contract performance; assists contracts' Program Management Offices to close contract service needs

Qualifications

  • BS Degree and at least 9 years of experience or 4+ years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Working knowledge of launch policy and procedures
  • General understanding of space and launch vehicle communications integration; in-depth knowledge of launch site preparations, processes and execution of day-of-launch procedures
  • Skilled at facilitating objective review of issues and leading team through issue resolution process
  • Ability to formulate defensible recommendations for customer on complex programmatic/technical issues in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Must communicate effectively with senior management as well as employees at all levels; strong writing skills required

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
