Make a difference for national security by joining a team of dedicated professionals supporting the Space Development Agency (SDA) to develop and deploy the Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) software development and hosting environment for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) in Secret Impact Level 6 environment.  These systems establish software development capabilities to securely and rapidly field mission applications developed by BMC3 ecosystem participants in support of Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) objectives.

SAIC has an immediate need for a BMC3 Mission System Architect (PWSA, SW, and AWS Cloud Architect).  We are looking for an innovative and motivated individual to facilitate the USAF and USA's efforts to migrate applications to a cloud CI/CD with deployment to the Edge assets in space. The candidate for this position will work primarily with Impact Level 5 (IL5) information and may require travel to – Redstone Arsenal, Grand Forks, ND., and other locations with access to an IL5.  The role is primarily remote.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PWSA Mission System Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of space mission systems, ensuring successful mission planning, execution, and operations. This role requires in-depth technical knowledge, strategic vision, and the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines to deliver complex space systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop comprehensive architecture solutions for applications developed to support space missions.  Familiarity of satellites, spacecraft, and related ground systems is desirable.

- Lead the design and integration of mission system software applications, and interfaces, ensuring they meet mission requirements and constraints.

- Collaborate with stakeholders, including engineers, scientists, project managers, and clients, to gather requirements, define mission objectives, and establish mission specifications.

- Experience integrating large, complex software systems comprised of inputs from numerous sources.

- Conduct trade studies and analysis to evaluate different design approaches, technologies, and methodologies for mission success.

- Oversee the development of detailed system design documentation, including block diagrams, interface control documents, and technical specifications.

- Ensure rigorous system validation, verification, and testing processes are in place to guarantee system performance and reliability.

- Manage risks associated with space mission systems architecture and develop mitigation strategies.

- Stay updated with the latest advancements in space technology and apply innovative approaches to mission system design.

- Develop solution frameworks, Software application design principles, and conceptual architectures to be handed off to Software application developers.

- Ensure the security of cloud, facility and space environments. This way, they can prevent data breaches, minimize the effects of a data leak, or reduce downtime that may occur from a system error.

- Assess application developers' needs, budget and capability and advise how to construct a reliable application within the PWSA.

- Evaluate incoming third-party applications and their Software architecture to determine the level of effort and feasibility of integration with the BMC3 Ecosystem.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, Systems Engineering, with min 9 years of overall experience.  or a related field; a Master's or Ph.D. is preferred. with 

- Minimum of 10 years of experience in space mission systems engineering or a related field.

- Proven track record of successful space mission systems architecture development and implementation.

- Familiarity with space mission lifecycle processes, from concept development through operations.

- Proficiency in using systems engineering tools and software.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform complex technical analysis.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.

- U.S. Citizenship, Must have min Secret Clearance. 


Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
