SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer for our Legacy Software Baseline team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development with a focus on legacy systems, as well as experience in military mission planning, operations, and wargaming.  This position supports the Air Force Command and Control Simulation Environment Training (C2SET) Sustainment through Modification & Modernization contract. The C2SET constructive suite of applications is developed under the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC/C3CO), C2SET Program Management Office (PMO), Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts. Presently, the C2SET program is modernizing the Air Force's constructive air model and is developed under the AFLCMC/C3CO Kessel Run Software Acquisition Pathway (SWP) program to address several M&S challenges, including:

  • Supporting Air Operations Center (AOC) Weapon System (WS) application development, testing, and field training.
  • Fully transitioning and replacing the current Air Force Modeling and Simulation Training Toolkit (AFMSTT) stimulation and simulation capabilities via Agile software methods.
  • Reinforcement training of Joint Force Air Component Commanders (JFACC) Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) worldwide.
  • Supporting AF constructive modeling and predictive analysis of modern warfare.

As the Legacy Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the sustainment and operational readiness of all legacy training, simulation, and stimulation artifacts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure legacy operational sustainment of all operational training, simulation, and stimulation artifacts.
  • Provide legacy Change Requests (CR)/Defect Reports (DR) changes, GitLab ticket changes, User priorities, exercise urgent DRs, Operating System (OS) updates, fielding changes, exercise changes, etc.
  • Design and architect legacy Air, Space, and Cyberspace Constructive Environment (ASCCE) and Federation fielding and integration support.
  • Support the transition engineering of all attributes marked for transition.
  • Develop and maintain systems using languages such as Ada, Java, HTML, XML, C, C++, SQL, XSD, YACC, Perl, Groovy, VB, Shell, and other necessary languages.
  • Utilize cloud-based services (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure) and RESTful architectures.
  • Leverage experience in military mission planning, operations, and wargaming.
  • Support simulation training at various levels working with Air Operations Centers (AOCs).

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience developing in systems such as Ada, Java, HTML, XML, C, C++, SQL, XSD, YACC, Perl, Groovy, VB, Shell, and other necessary languages.
  • Experience working with cloud-based services (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure) and/or RESTful architectures.
  • At least 2 years of experience in military mission planning, operations, and wargaming.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in simulation training at various levels working with Air Operations Centers (AOCs).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic mindset.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Clearance Level:

  • Must possess an active Secret clearance.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Advanced degree preferred.

Defense Cyber Work Force Certification:

One of the following certifications is desired: CISSP-ISSAP, CSSLP, GSEC
