Here is what you will be doing:
- Set an example of high integrity and fair treatment of others
- Demonstrate the highest commitment to “zero occurrences” by effectively leading the safety, health and environmental efforts at the operation
- Effective utilization of the “Safety Specialist” program as a tool for accomplishing the safety goals of the operation and for developing future leadership
- Development of a business plan and execution of the plan including budgeting, projecting and cost management
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Leadership with the ability to solve problems and make decisions both individually and in a team environment
- Direct the maintenance team in the delivery of the Savage Maintenance Program
- Responsibilities are not all-inclusive and may change based on the needs of the company
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Lead a team in an industrial setting, effectively balancing customer, company and team member needs
- Understands and is committed to the growth and development of co-workers
- Delegate and/or involve others where appropriate
- Effectively communicate on several different levels (customers, team members and other managers)
- Provide motivation and encouragement to team members to follow his/her example in the areas of safety, health and the environment
- Interact and work effectively with vendors, always maintaining a high level of integrity
- Have a solid understanding of business contracts and execution
- Possess effective communication skills with customers, team members and business associates, treating all with professionalism and respect
- Be a hands-on, hardworking self-starter, with mechanical and technical aptitude
- Lead and maintain customer relationships
- Assist with the hiring, training, leadership and team building of the operation
Education/Experience:
- 5 years of supervisory experience in a trucking/transportation setting (Preferred)
- 4-year degree a plus but not required
- Basic understanding of trucking/transportation industry and equipment including the associated components and maintenance thereof
- Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Willing to study and learn new technical skills and techniques
- Valid Driver's License
Physical Requirements:
- Work will be outdoors working alongside field personnel, climbing stairs, ladders and on and off equipment
- Ability to work onsite at the operation at minimum five days a week - no hybrid work schedule available
- Lift up to 50lbs independently
