This is a part-time position of about 20-25 hours per week, working 5-hour evenings Fri-Mon 3-8pm (exact times negotiable), plus on-call, with a competitive benefits package.
Responsibilities / Job Duties:
- Perform road services
- Perform routine services
- Diagnose problems
- Maintain appropriate records
- Change/adjust brakes; change/mount tires; grease CMVs; repair/replace lights; check/fill gear boxes; change oil/filter; check/change wheel bearings; change springs; clutch adjustment/replacement
- Understand/repair air brake system
- Understand/repair steering components
- Understand/repair trailer suspension
- Perform general cleanup duties
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Ensure proper safety rules and maintenance/operating procedures are followed
- Identify, procure, and maintain critical parts for the facility and equipment
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure that necessary amounts of inventory are in stock to reduce delays or failures
Requirements/Qualifications:
- CDL Class A - a plus
- Clean Class C driver's license
- Welding knowledge/proficiency - a plus
- Experience with Mack trucks - a plus
- MACS Refrigerant Certification - a plus or be able to obtain
- Tank trailer experience - a plus
- Mechanically-inclined
- Knowledge of electrical systems
- Ability to perform annual inspections
- Strong diagnostic ability
- Keen understanding of brake systems
- Computer skills a plus
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Effective interfacing with internal leadership, drivers, external vendors and other team members
- Must demonstrate interpersonal skills and understand their role in meeting the major objectives
- Self-starter capable of working independently, in line with company goals, strategies and policies
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completion
- Ability to diagnose, problem solve, and execute plans
- Must be dependable, honest, and cooperative
- Must have clean work habits and willing to learn and follow all company guidelines and policies
- Possess own tools – a plus
Education/Experience:
- Background in planning and scheduling maintenance
- Experience applying and following safety regulations and written procedures
Physical Requirements:
- Will have exposure to chemicals and materials including acid wash, solvents, greases and oils
- Must be able to lift up to 60lbs
- Must be able to climb under truck on creeper
- Shift required to work weekends
- Will be “on call” weekends
