Here's a preview of what you'll be doing:

  • Thoroughly inspecting rail cars, primarily hoppers cars
  • Performing rail switching of rail hopper cars
  • Operating Car Mover to index hopper cars thru the wash tracks and loading tracks
  • Washing and drying empty rail hopper cars
  • Loading rail hopper cars with bulk polypropylene pellets
  • Office related duties - some data entry
  • General Maintenance ("bolt on – bolt off") as well as cleaning, housekeeping and snow removal
  • Looking to expand and develop your skills to perform rail switching and/or locomotive operation

This is what we need from you:

  • A sound understanding or aptitude to learn the loading of bulk plastics
  • Understands, or willing to learn, railroad operations and safety 
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Must be able to attend and pass all test associated with job related coursework. This includes, but it not limited to: IROR, CROR, WHMIS, TDG,
  • Willing to reliably fulfill the following work schedule: 12 hour rotating shifts (days and nights)
  • Experience in the petrochemical field or other industrial environment preferred
  • Locomotive operation and railcar mover experience is an asset

Here are some of the minimum requirements for this role:

  • A high school diploma
  • Willing to work outside in any weather condition
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening test, and a criminal background check 
  • Must be able to climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend a ladder
  • Must be able to stand, kneel or crawl, and walk extensively throughout the day
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
