THE OPPORTUNITY

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

As part of the Construction Litigation Team, you'll have the opportunity to work on interesting, challenging, and groundbreaking cases in collaboration with senior attorneys. 

 

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Seattle office of Seyfarth Shaw seeks a construction litigation associate with 3-7 years of experience with general commercial construction, complex construction projects and government contracts.  The ideal candidate will have experience representing owners, contractors, design professional and/or sureties in the drafting, negotiating and administration of contracts; and, will have experience with some of the following construction matters:  procurement-related issues, contract administration, risk management, dispute avoidance, claim documentation, equitable adjustments, impact and delay claims, default terminations, change order and extra work disputes, requests for equitable adjustments, payment and performance bond claims, mechanics' liens, prompt payment and conditional payment disputes, construction and design defects, and bid protests. Any experience or exposure to condemnation proceedings is also a plus.  Excellent academic credentials, analytical skills and verbal and written communication skills required. Candidate must be admitted or have the ability to waive into Washington bar.  The California bar is a plus.

 

YOU HAVE:

·       Experience with general commercial construction, complex construction projects and government contracts.

·       Represented owners, contractors, design professionals and/or sureties in litigation or arbitration matters.

·       Represented owners, contractors, design professionals and/or sureties in the drafting, negotiating and administration of contracts.

·       Experience with some of the following construction matters: procurement-related issues, contract administration, risk management, dispute avoidance, claim documentation, equitable adjustments, impact and delay claims, default terminations, change order and extra work disputes, requests for equitable adjustments, payment and performance bond claims, mechanics' liens, prompt payment and conditional payment disputes, construction and design defects, and bid protests.  Experience or exposure to condemnation proceedings is a plus.

Seattle: 

The salary range for this role is $240,000 to $320,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
