The Digital Die Cutter is a critical role that performs manual and machine operator tasks related to finishing operations.  This position inspects our labels to ensure they are free of errors and/or defects, following procedures for the first article of inspection and all other quality checks.  Responsible for the proper set-up, operation, quality, and changeover of the die-cutter operations.

 

Salary Range: $22.00 - $27.00/hourly

 

Compensation will be based on the skills and experiences you bring to Smyth.

 

Shift: Monday – Thursday, 3:55pm – 2:00am. Generous 2nd shift differential!

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Perform critical manual and machine operator tasks as related to finishing operations using AB Graphic and Graphtronic equipment
  • Proper set-up, operation, quality, and changeover of the die cutter operations
  • Inspect labels to ensure they are free of errors and/or defects
  • Participate in cross-training with an open positive attitude
  • Conduct required preventive maintenance on assigned Finishing equipment
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate documentation for assigned finishing tasks; entering accurate production information including finished product count and start/stop times in the data collection system
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams , including Kaizen events and daily improvement projects. focusing on Lean methodologies
  • Participate in cross-training with an open and positive attitude

 

The candidate must demonstrate:

  • Ability to make fact-based decisions and troubleshoot print and press problems to keep projects running smoothly and efficiently
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with a diverse group of people and personalities
  • Capability to set up, run, and maintain Die cutter machines in an efficient and timely manner
  • Ability to read and understand all information pertaining to Finishing before running
  • Availability to work overtime as needed

 

Education, Skillsand Experience:

  • Required: High School degree or equivalent and/or two or more years in central impression flexographic printing; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required: Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Required: Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in the English language
  • Preferred: Manufacturing, print industry experience
  • A Plus: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and ISO quality systems
