I'm the ICU Medical Director for Eden Medical Center located in Castro Valley, CA, and serve as Regional Medical Director supporting Alta Bates Summit Medical Centers in Oakland and Berkeley. I have been a part of Sound for 4 years and part of the practices at Eden and Alta Bates for 16 years. I'm proud of the critical care practice we have built and welcome interest from physicians desiring a career change to explore an opportunity with our group. I'd like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:

People?

• We are a closely knit, established team of physicians and advanced practice providers.
• Our group holds the sole contract for the ICUs at both Eden and our Alta Bates campuses and, as such, our providers are involved with numerous work groups including Sutter-wide critical care clinical improvement committee, ICU subject matter expert group, code blue committee, pulmonary embolism review committee, ICU celebration of life committee, and others.
• Our team is a social group and meet occasionally for nights out. Additionally, we indulge in our amazing local restaurant scene as well as our beautiful local parks. Nearby, we have access to the parks along the San Francisco Bay and redwood covered East Bay hills. We are an hour from wine country and 3 hours from the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Practice

• Our Eden campus is a level II trauma center and the regional trauma center for Southern Alameda County.
• We have excellent collaboration with trauma and neurovascular as well as neurosurgery services. The nursing staff is excellent, and we have dedicated critical care pharmacists.
• We have a 24-bed ICU (closed) with medical, surgical, neuro, and trauma patients.
• Our Summit campus is a comprehensive stroke center and STEMI center with a robust cardiac surgery program, including a structural heart program.
• Our 36-bed ICU is a mixed unit with medical, surgical, cardiac surgery, and neuro patients. We are starting an internal medicine residency program in July of 2024.
• This is a full-time position that entails working roughly 80% of the time at Eden campus and 20% of the time at Alta Bates Oakland campus. Physician would also be credentialed at the Berkeley campus.
• We work in EPIC, with access to our own internal informatics platform.
• Compensation ranges from $2,580 (day) to $2,880 (night) per shift, with an anticipated base salary of $482,400 based on an average of 15 shifts per month, with 1/3 of the shifts being nights. We offer relocation assistance and commencement bonus.
• We are not considering 2025 fellows at this time.
• Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
