POSITION SUMMARY:
The Product Engineering Technician will assist with the design, testing, and implementation of engineering solutions to manage and plan the reconditioning process for Genie equipment. This role bridges engineering and production, providing technical support, validating design changes, managing and developing BOM's and other manufacturing control documents and ensuring machines meet quality and performance standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in both an office and shop-floor environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support new Product Development in terms of system configuration for Part Numbers, BOM's, and other documents required for effective process control
- Assist engineers in developing, testing, and implementing product improvements and modifications
- Prepare and update technical drawings, schematics, and documentation as directed
- Support prototype builds and engineering trials, documenting results and feedback
- Conduct functional and performance tests on equipment to verify compliance with engineering specifications
- Troubleshoot technical issues during the reconditioning process and propose solutions
- Collect and analyze data to support product validation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with production teams to implement engineering changes and train staff on new processes
- Maintain accurate records of test results, design updates, and engineering changes
- Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and regulatory standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
- Associate's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering Technology (or related field) preferred
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in a mechanical, electrical, or product engineering support role (equipment, automotive, or manufacturing industry experience a plus)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) a plus
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Hands-on mechanical/electrical aptitude with tools and testing equipment
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively across engineering, production, and management teams
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all QMS (Quality Management System) guidelines and regulations are followed
- All employees are required to follow and promote all company and regulatory safety and environmental standards and exhibit safe work practices at all times
- Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): Safety Toe Shoes, Safety Glasses, etc. required in production and warehouse environments
- Follow established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and continuous improvement objectives
- Actively participate in and support the principles of Open-Book Management
- Exhibit a positive attitude and promote a positive work environment
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed mostly in a controlled atmosphere. Some exposure to harsh conditions—such as: dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures—for short periods of time is possible. This employee will be required to demonstrate continued knowledge of Haz/Com regulations and requirements. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing 20%, sitting, 30%, walking 50%. This position requires occasional physical effort including lifting, pushing and pulling material weighing up to 50 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk and hear.
