Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Strategic Sourcing Manager is required to propose, implement, project, and manage proactive cost reduction and supplier improvement programs, as well as develop and maintain contingency sources of supply.   

 

Responsibilities

  • Use information from interviews, site visits, seminars, trade shows, Internet, commercial and technical publications, and other contracts to develop and maintain an effective supplier base to procure products and services
  • Work closely with an audit team to qualify and approve suppliers (both foreign and domestic) of products and services with Quality Assurance (QA) and Engineering support
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers based on volume, price, quality, on-time delivery, and customer service
  • Prepares and submits formal Request For Quote's (RFQ)
  • Continually review market conditions/suppliers and new product introductions for long and short-term price reductions with the goal of contributing to the process of developing standard costs for product lines
  • Attend company APQP meetings
  • Continuous education through trade journals, company publications, trade shows, conferences, plant tours as well as formal education
  • Develop and maintain a system to store supplier information and RFQ's on mainframe or within the Purchasing department
  • Develop and maintain a tracking tool to properly identify the various steps in the part qualification/validation process.  Include input from other departments as needed (QA, Engineering, etc.)
  • Work closely with Engineering, QA dept., Scheduling, and other buyers to prioritize Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR) parts to ensure cost savings or production critical parts are handled appropriately

 Key Qualifications

  • Five years experience in supply chain 
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in related field
  • PICS, CPM, or other supply chain certification preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required in order to effectively communicate with employees, suppliers, and customers
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office Products
  • Knowledge of inventory processes and related departments
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize, delegate, and organize assignments
  • High level of energy and motivation
