Job Description

SS&C Health is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Director of Benefits Configuration to lead our benefit setup and administration function. This role is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely configuration of pharmacy benefit designs across commercial, exchange, Medicare, and Medicaid lines of business. You will collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, compliance, client services, and technology teams to ensure optimal performance and regulatory adherence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end benefit configuration process for all lines of business, ensuring timely and accurate implementation of benefit designs, and client-specific requirements.
  • Oversee a team of benefit configuration analysts, providing leadership, mentorship, and quality assurance oversight.
  • Collaborate with implementation, clinical services, and account management teams to ensure smooth onboarding and ongoing benefit maintenance for clients.
  • Own the configuration lifecycle within adjudication platforms including testing, validation, issue resolution, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, state Medicaid, and commercial regulatory requirements related to pharmacy benefit configuration.
  • Partner with IT and Product teams to drive automation, scalability, and continuous improvement of configuration processes and tools.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for benefit design logic, accumulators, tiering, coverage rules, prior authorizations, and cost-share calculations.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and service-level agreements (SLAs) to measure and enhance configuration accuracy and turnaround times.
  • Support audits, client reporting needs, and other compliance-related activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimally requires a Master's degree and 8 years of related experience, or Bachelor's degree and 10 years of related experience, or high school degree and 12 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in pharmacy benefit administration or healthcare operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing benefit configuration
  • Expertise in pharmacy claims adjudication systems
  • Deep understanding of commercial, Medicare Part D, and Medicaid benefit requirements and regulatory guidelines
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and large-scale benefit implementations
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret complex benefit designs
  • Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with tech-enabled PBAs or PBMs
  • Knowledge of agile project management and configuration automation tools.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools or SQL a plus.

Salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, business needs, and geographic regions. Jersey City, NJ: Salary range for the position: 125,000 USD to 150,000 USD. NY: Salary range for the position: 125,000 USD to 150,000 USD.
