SS&C Algorithmics

The SS&C Algorithmics (part of SS&C Technologies Inc.) financial risk, regulatory and performance platform serves banking, insurance, asset management and hedge fund institutions. We partner with clients around the world to respond proactively and transparently to regulatory requirements and solve the most complex challenges in financial risk management and performance measurement.

About the Role

SS&C Algorithmics is seeking a highly motivated intern to work on a research project within the Product Management group.

The role will involve investigating the use of Machine Learning (ML) to help generate polynomials that can be used as proxies when simulating trades for risk management. The internship will last for a period of 4 weeks over the summer of 2024.

The deliverable from the internship will be a comparison report on different ML tools that are available and, if time allows, a working prototype that shows how a financial product can be modelled as a polynomial.

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with basic modelling of financial products (e.g. Interest Rate Swaps).
  • Become familiar with basic concepts in counterparty credit risk.
  • Carry out an investigation into the use of ML to help with the modelling of financial products for risk calculations.
  • Produce a report on the results of the investigation.
  • If time allows produce a working example that shows the modelling for a sample financial product.

Your Experience

  • Undergraduate studying for numerate/technical Degree or equivalent.
  • Presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to adapt, learn and explore new technologies.
  • High degree of initiative and learning to work with complex software products with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with Excel.
