Job Description

Software Engineer (DST Technologies, Inc. Kansas City, MO): The Software Engineer will analyze, design, program, and modify software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based or Internet-related computer programs. In this role, code may be used in commercial or end-user applications, such as materials management, financial management, mobile apps or desktop application products. Furthermore, the Software Engineer will use current programming languages and technologies, write code, complete programming, and perform testing and debugging of applications.  Specific responsibilities will include:  Completing documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance; Interacting with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications; Adhering to Software Engineering and Information Security Controls. Exercising judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.  Developing front-end applications using Vue and Ext Javascript, and developing back-end applications using Java and Spring Boot;  Building new widgets using content management system dotCMS;  Building different Apache nifi flows to automate the flow of data between systems;  Developing applications using various database technologies such as IBM DB2, MySQL, or MongoDB;  Working in Agile team environment using Scrum;   Developing test automation functionality from project to project using Selenium  WebDriver, Gherkin, Cucumber;  Decomposing and/or building test various automation frameworks (Functional, UI, API, Regression); and,  Building and executing various test plans/scripts for IBM Zos mainframe applications. Telecommuting permitted.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or related field plus 2 years of experience in a software engineering role. Alternatively, will accept Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or related field.  

Must have: Proven ability with the following: developing back-end application using Java and Spring Boot; Building new widgets using content management system dotCMS; Building different Apache nifi flows to automate the flow of data between systems; Developing applications using various database technologies such as IBM DB2, MySQL, or MongoDB. Proven ability developing front-end applications using Vue and Ext Javascript.  Proven ability working in Agile team environment using Scrum.
