Overview

The Aviation Program is excited to be hiring a new Project Manager to join our Project Delivery team! This is a great opportunity to manage a wide range of projects from start to finish. This role will oversee consultant designers and project managers, and help guide aviation projects through the planning, design, and construction phases.

 

Project types include runway and taxiway reconstruction, new infrastructure and airport expansions, terminal building construction and rehabilitation, airport land use and planning, private development on airport property, and more. The position will also take the lead on developing budgets and critical path method schedules, asset prioritization, and managing federally funded grant projects.

 

A hybrid telework schedule will be considered, but frequent in-person work is required.

This position, AOT Project Manager I - Aviation (Job Requisition #52686), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Duties are largely performed in an office setting; however, some field travel may be necessary. Fieldwork may involve exposure to hazardous materials, traffic hazards and construction sites during all weather conditions; and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered on a regular basis and these should be handled in a professional and respectful manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Engineering AND three (3) years or more of professional experience in civil engineering.

OR

Bachelor's degree in Engineering OR Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) AND five (5) years or more of professional experience in civil engineering.

OR

Associate degree and ten (10) years or more of experience in Transportation Engineering or related field, including one (1) year or more of experience in the aspects of project delivery.

OR

Certification in Project Management (PMP Certificate) with ten (10) years of experience in Transportation Engineering or a related field, including one (1) year or more of experience in the aspects of project delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience interpreting project plans and cost analysis, contract compliance and interpretation, methods of time estimation and recording.

Special Requirements

Some positions may require two years of supervisory experience. Participation in State of Vermont provided supervisor development programs may be substituted for supervisory experience.
