Overview

The AOT Senior Manager III functions as the District Transportation Administrator for the Capitol Region.

 

The position is responsible for managing all maintenance operations within central Vermont. This position manages and oversees the maintenance budget for the region and has the approval authority for expenditures up to a determined threshold. Often this position will answer questions from the public and news outlets, along with working closely with our internal partners such as human resources, civil rights, and safety.

 

As the leader in this division, there is an important level of complexity, authority, and impactful decision making expected. This position is required to understand the network, while also having strong communication skills.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in both an office and field setting. Frequent visits to construction sites and district offices and garages are required. Incumbents should possess private means of transportation. Attendance at public meetings and hearings is required. Some evening or weekend work may be anticipated. A variety of strong adversarial opinions may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree AND ten (10) years or more of management experience in one or more the following areas (a) development of program rules and policies; (b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans: (c) program evaluation; or (d) budget preparation OR highway maintenance, engineering, construction, planning or a combination thereof.

OR

High school diploma or equivalent AND twelve (12) years or more of management experience in one or more the following areas (a) development of program rules and policies; (b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans: (c) program evaluation; and (d) budget preparation OR highway maintenance, engineering, construction, planning.

 

Note: Some positions may require registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
