Overview

The Agency of Transportation (AOT) is looking for a dependable individual to join our Technician team in District 1.
 
This position supports the technical and administrative work related to highway maintenance, repair, surveys, studies, testing, inspection, and safety for the agency of Transportation District Maintenance and Fleet. Work is performed in the office, garages, roadways and on work sites. Basic knowledge of computer technology, PPE and SDS is recommended. Effective communication, teamwork, integrity, and attention to detail strongly suggested.

Environmental Factors

Duties are generally performed in office, laboratory, and field setting for which private means of transportation must be available. Fieldwork may involve exposure to hazardous materials, traffic hazards and construction sites during all weather conditions; and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Class incumbents may be required to carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, traverse rough, wooded, and steep terrain, travel in boats or work on structures above ground level. Duties may also require exposure to extreme weather conditions. Out of state travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in civil engineering, environmental technology, engineering technology, surveying, construction technology, architecture, construction management, or related technical field.

OR

High school graduation or equivalent AND three (3) years of experience performing engineering support tasks involved in one or more of the following: planning, surveying, design, inspection, construction, research and statistics, testing, investigation, maintenance or construction of various types of civil engineering projects.

Preferred Qualifications Special Requirements

Some positions in this job class may require possession of a valid driver's license.
