Overview

The Department for Children & Families' Family Services Division (DCF-FSD) Central Office is seeking a professional level Part-time, Temporary Family Services Worker to assist FSD's High-end Staffing Coordinator in the coordination of all high-end staffing's ensuring safe and appropriate temporary placements at each staffing site utilized by the 12 FSD district offices when children and youth in DCF custody experience temporary emergency staffing until a licensed, appropriate placement can be secured. This position will involve supporting the High-End Staffing Coordinator to support districts to ensure high needs youth in DCF custody displaced due to lack of appropriate programming are safely staffed by division and contracted staff.  This includes ensuring appropriate supervision, security, transportation, coordination with involved and case carrying FSD staff, and staff involved in caring for the youth.  The coordination will ensure each location has the support and supplies needed to ensure all basic needs of the youth are met, and that safe and trauma-informed care for the youth occurs.  We work in partnership with foster parents, respite providers, FSD district and central office staff, law enforcement, contracted agencies and others that provide staffing resources for FSD. The ideal candidate will have considerable experience with Family Services Division's adolescent population.

Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a variety of setting ranging from departmental offices to client homes to courtrooms. Considerable field travel is required, for which private means of transportation must be available. Crisis situations may arise at any hour and may require evening or weekend responses. Incumbents predictably encounter high levels of stress and emotional situations, strong differences of opinion, and potentially exposure to physical danger. Class incumbents may be required to be on available or standby status during night, weekend, and holiday hours.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in social work.

OR

Bachelor's degree AND eighteen (18) months of human services casework, including at least six months with a child or youth services caseload where duties included direct responsibility for client intake, assessment, plan development, monitoring, service procurement, and case closure in a formal human services delivery system.

OR

Satisfactory completion of 12 to 18 months experience as a Family Services Worker trainee in DCF.
