Overview

Buildings and General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an exciting opportunity with room for growth as a HVAC Specialist with the Operations and Maintenance divison. 

 

In this role, you will work as part of a team and independently. This position will work primarily on heating and cooling equipment throughout the Capital District in Montpelier, which includes the State House and many historic buildings. Systems include steam heat from the district heat plant, forced hot water boiler systems, outdoor condenser units, and mini splits. This position may also be asked to assist with other duties as assigned including but not limited to: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and lock repair.

 

This is a full-time position that requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of a background check, and the hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm.

 

The Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) is a diverse organization with over 340 employees serving state agencies and departments within state Government. BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their missions. Environmental Factors

Duties are performed at state buildings including correctional and psychiatric care facilities Contact with inmates and patients may be anticipated. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Must be able to climb ladders, lift weights up to 75 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Climbing, crawling, reaching, and standing, for extended periods of time are often required. This position may require emergency response to calls outside of regular work hours. Some potential for physical injury may be present.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a current Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications

Possession of an R-410 Safety Certificate.
