Overview

DOC's Recruitment and Retention Supervisor (R&R supervisor) position will work closely with the Chief of Operations, Executive of Correctional Facilities, the Executive of Field Services, the Deputy director of Professional Development within the Office of Professional Standards and Compliance (OPSC),  Facility Superintendents, Facility Assistant Superintendents, Facility Chiefs of Security, Facility Business Managers, The Department of Human Resources Recruiting and Field Operations and reports to the Executive of the Office of Professional Standards and Compliance (OPSC).

 

The Recruitment and Retention supervisor adheres to the mission of DOC by supporting safe and secure prisons along with the supervision of offenders in Vermont communities. Primary duties include recruitment and retention through the R&R Coordinators who are focused in these areas. This position supervises the recruitment and retention coordinators, oversees all background investigations and the management of projects connected to recruitment and retention of staff. The R&R Supervisor is responsible for the training and direction of the facility-based recruitment specialists.

 

Work will focus on the management of recruitment strategies, social media outreach and messaging/branding, onboarding strategies, applicant outreach, retention tracking, enhanced background investigations, exit interviews, stay interviews and developing a system in line with corrections best practices to recruit, develop, and retain the best possible candidates for our jobs. This work has a high-level impact on the overall Department culture and must be done with minimal direction.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting. Significant travel is anticipated for which private means of transportation must be available.   Work outside of normal work schedule is required.  There may be considerable interaction with a variety of publics and strong difference of opinion may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates Degree AND two (2) years or more of experience as a human resources generalist or as a recruiter/ talent acquisition specialist; including or supplemented by one (1) or more years of experience supervising employees.

 

OR

 

High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of experience as a human resources generalist or as a recruiter/ talent acquisition specialist; including or supplemented by two (2) or more years of experience supervising employees.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
