Overview
The Department of Finance and Management seeks motivated individuals interested in public accounting, financial planning and policy. Candidates should possess basic knowledge of public sector accounting, government operations and the policy process. This is a full-time position based out of Montpelier working in office three days a week. Some weekend and holiday work may be required. Hiring is for a Budget and Management Analyst, however, exceptional candidates could be considered for a Senior Budget and Management Analyst position.

Duties are performed largely in a standard office setting. Private means of transportation should be available for required travel. The role involves intensive interaction with departmental officials who may advocate strongly for their programs. Required recommendations may be difficult because of competing interests and limited resources. Rapid response in the face of tight deadlines may be necessary. Evening and weekend duty may be anticipated.
Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree or higher in business administration, public administration or a closely related field AND one (1) year or more of program or fiscal management experience at or above a middle management level of responsibility.
OR
Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years or more of program or fiscal management experience at or above a middle management level of responsibility.
Preferred QualificationsMPA, MBA, CPA, or other advanced degree.
Experience in program planning and/or evaluation.
