About Community Life

Community Life is TCBs place-based model that provides stable housing as a platform for residents and neighborhoods to achieve success. TCB communities are places of innovation that address some of the most significant challenges facing low-income populations. We engage residents in creating programs and build strategic partnerships with local stakeholders to maintain stable housing and create pathways to opportunities in six key practice areas: youth development, education, workforce development, health, asset building, and community engagement.

Position Description

Reporting to the Community Life Senior Manager, the role of the Community Life Service Coordinator (CLSC) will assist with the development and coordination of support services for the residents of Oakley Square Apartments. The CLSC will ensure resident and community success by working within the Community Success Plan (CSP). Working with the Community Life Senior Manager the CLSC will assist with planning programs and other on-site opportunities for residents with a particular focus on the youth of Oakley Square.

Essential Functions

Under the direction of the Community Life Senior Manager, implement site priorities in line with the sites Community Success Plan, an annual strategic plan outlining site priorities and strategies that fit into TCBs strategic objectives.

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of youth programs at Oakley Square, including design, partnership development, implementation, and assessment of progress.
  • Assist in building relationships with DFSS program partners and parents to increase youth engagement and participation.
  • Support the CL Senior Manager in the development of the Community Success Plan (CSP), a strategic plan that is updated annually that includes activities and partners necessary to impact CL outcomes.
  • Conduct annual Community Life Questionnaire. TCBs annual survey of residents portfolio wide.
  • Develop relationships with residents to understand their needs and aspirations and provide referrals to other TCB staff or external partners as appropriate.
  • Support and help facilitate community engagement strategies with residents, some of which may be resident-led.
  • Collect attendance sheets and photos from resident programs and events.
  • Attend trainings and other professional development opportunities offered by TCB.
  • Represent TCB in a professional and ethical manner when meeting with area agencies, funding bodies and community stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach residents with a particular focus on youth.
  • Significant housing knowledge and ability to integrate the housing platform into community life objectives.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to senior staff, volunteers, interns, community partners, organization donors.
  • Ability to engage, communicate and collaborate with residents of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to understand and respect values, attitudes, and beliefs that differ across cultures and to respond appropriately to these differences with residents and in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services.
  • Experience working with partners and site team members to implement programs and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of child development and/or experience working with youth is preferred.
  • Timely data collection and data entry.
  • Entrepreneurial, creative with an interest in guiding an initiative through uncharted waters.
  • Excellent communication, organization and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of Yardi is a plus.
  • Competence with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and other computer programs, as required.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and be self-directed.

Education & Experience

B.A. a minimum, with skills and experience in community outreach, affordable/low-income housing, community organizing, and education.

  • At least two years of overall professional experience working with families in housing or human services agencies required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications and other computer programs.
  • Some knowledge of property management and HUD guidelines.
  • Experience working with partners and site team members to implement programs and initiatives.
