RPS, a Tetra Tech Company, is adding an Analytical Programmer III to join our MetOcean, Science & Technology Division. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to work as part of a specialized team of data analysts supporting environmental and oceanographic data systems. We are looking for a self-motivated, adaptable professional who thrives in a dynamic work environment and is capable of balancing multiple project workloads while delivering high-quality results.

Your Role:
- Develop and implement code in MATLAB and Python for time series data analysis and visualization.
- Apply critical thinking to solve complex data challenges.
- Engage in professional communication and collaboration with clients and team members.
- Conduct quality assurance (QA) for incoming datasets and quality control (QC) for outgoing deliverables.
- Coordinate laboratory water sampling analysis and interpret laboratory results for data integrity.
- Review, analyze, and present water quality data collected from field instrumentation.
- Prepare data summaries and reports to support environmental and water quality monitoring programs.
- Maintain version control and support legacy code libraries.
- Ensure timely delivery of accurate, client-ready products.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Python and MATLAB for advanced data analysis and visualization.
- Strong knowledge of Python libraries such as:
- numpy, pandas, scipy, matplotlib, pyspark, sklearn
- Familiarity with Azure cloud services, especially Databricks.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Understanding of best practices for real-time and in-situ time series data QA/QC.
- Experience with code version tracking and legacy code maintenance.
- Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary science and engineering teams.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Relevant Experience:
- Experience with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Dredge Quality Management (DQM) program.
- Knowledge of dredging operations (e.g., cutterheads, hopper dredges).
- Background in physical oceanography or environmental sciences.
- Hands-on experience with water sampling for various parameters including metals, PAHs, pesticides, PCBs, TSS, etc.
- Experience coordinating with analytical laboratories and reviewing data analysis packages.
Preferred Skills and Additional Capabilities:
- Application design and user interface development.
- Experience processing physical oceanographic data (e.g., waves, currents, water levels, winds).
- Familiarity with oceanographic instrumentation such as:
- ADCPs, meteorological and wave buoys, wave radar, and LIDAR systems.
