Tetra Tech is adding a Civil/Environmental Engineer – Aquatic Restoration to support our growing Water Resources and Natural Systems practice. This position provides an exciting opportunity to design, implement, and oversee a range of aquatic restoration and water resource projects across the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West.

Position Summary:
The successful candidate will support a diverse portfolio of river, stream, and wetland restoration projects and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, biologists, and geomorphologists. This position will include design, permitting, and fieldwork support related to aquatic and water resources engineering.
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare detailed engineering design plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including creation and modification of surfaces, grading, and plan/profile views.
- Develop construction cost estimates and schedules using RS Means, Microsoft Project, and other tools.
- Write and review technical design reports, specifications, and implementation plans.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for existing and proposed site conditions using HEC-RAS (1D/2D), HY8, HEC-HMS, and similar software.
- Provide construction oversight for restoration activities (e.g., earthwork, large wood placement, culvert and bridge installations).
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, ecologists, and scientists to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Manage multiple project tasks and deadlines, maintaining clear communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Travel as needed for project field assignments (multi-day or multi-week).
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in WA, OR, or ID.
- 7–12 years of professional experience in civil, stormwater, or aquatic restoration projects.
- Strong technical writing and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and working knowledge of ArcGIS.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS, HY8, HydroCAD, HEC-SSP, HEC-HMS).
- Familiarity with sediment transport modeling and stream restoration techniques.
- Experience overseeing construction or field implementation of aquatic restoration projects.
- Knowledge of aquatic organism passage design and instream design best practices.
- Familiarity with surveying techniques (RTK-GPS, Total Station, Trimble Business Center).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform fieldwork in variable outdoor conditions, including walking long distances over uneven terrain, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 25–30 lbs.
- Travel throughout the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West as project assignments require.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
- Work performed in both office and field settings (including construction sites and aquatic environments).
- Fieldwork may involve exposure to inclement weather, water, and varied terrain.
- Adherence to Tetra Tech's health, safety, and environmental standards at all times is required.

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $100,000 – $120,000 annually
