Tetra Tech is seeking a Civil /Hydraulic Engineer to join our family of engineers and scientists who has an emphasis on modeling skills to complete a wide variety of challenging and complex hydrologic, hydraulic, and sediment transport analysis and restoration design projects. Potential projects include 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling, aquatic habitat restoration and enhancement, hydraulic structure analysis and design, dam and reservoir operations modeling, sediment transport analysis, fluvial geomorphology, and hydrographic survey. This position will report to our Albuquerque, NM office.

Your Role:
- Responsible for civil engineering, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling studies typically pertaining to surface water resources, watershed characteristics, open channel hydraulics, water/dam operations, fluvial geomorphology, and other tasks as assigned.
- Develop hydrologic (HEC-HMS) and hydraulic (HEC-RAS,) models.
- Participates in field data collection activities, including hydrographic surveys, sediment sampling, geomorphic reconnaissance, and topographic surveys.
- Hydrographic survey may include, but not be limited to river transect surveys (wading and from boat), discharge measurements, and sediment transport measurements.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team that includes biologists, ecologists, and geomorphologists.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (Master's Preferred) in civil engineering (or related field)
- Active Engineering Intern (EI) certification is a minimum, PE a plus
- 2-7 years of professional engineering experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools, GIS and/or AutoCAD.
- Hydrologic analysis skills should include rainfall-runoff modeling and/or statistical analysis of streamflow records.
- Hydraulic analysis skills include HEC-RAS with interest in learning FLO2D, AdH and SRH2D.
- Two-dimensional and/or sediment transport modeling experience is desirable.
- Ability to develop conceptual, preliminary, and final designs is a plus.
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams. Work with biologists, ecologists, geomorphologists, and planners is desirable.
- Experience with survey grade GPS desirable. Field duties will include survey and mapping grade GPS surveys, hydrographic surveys, bed material sampling, and discharge measurements.
- Experience writing computer code (e.g. Excel VBA and Python) for evaluating data sets and models results is a plus.
- Work assignments will include writing reports to explain procedures and results of the work; therefore, it is extremely important that the candidate have good writing skills.
- Must have valid driver's license and good driving record, with ability to operate 2wd and 4wd vehicles. Previous field experience, boat operation experience, and a willingness to travel within the US highly desirable.
