Rare opportunity for a Communications and Alumni Coordinator to contribute to creating a strong alumni network and supporting key alumni events.

The opportunity

  • Reserved for Nauru citizens
  • Employment contract for 2 years + possible 2-year extension
  • Salary from AUD 24,000 to 28,000, depending upon relevant skills and experience.

Australia Awards Nauru (AAN)

Australia Awards Scholarships are long-term awards administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Scholarships have long been a key component of Australia's development assistance to Nauru. Australia Awards provide prestigious international scholarships and fellowships, offering the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia and the Pacific region. Through study and research, scholarship recipients develop the skills and knowledge they need to drive change and help build enduring people to people links in Australia and the Pacific region.

The Australia Awards Nauru program is managed by Tetra Tech International Development for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The program supports all stages of the scholarship cycle including promotions, application management, selection, placement and mobilisation of awardees, and engagement of scholars and alumni.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop communications products such as publications, news stories, and social media content, including videos
  • Support public diplomacy events and the development of related materials, including media releases, photos and footage
  • Manage and update the Alumni data base. Including any self-funded alumni or alumni from other Australian Government funded scholarship programs (e.g., Endeavour, ACIAR)
  • Develop and manage the delivery of a reintegration support program to be run 1-2 times per year and can include one or more reintegration workshops, alumni networking, etc.
  • Lead the preparation of detailed activity concepts notes and budgets for planned alumni engagement activities that require DFAT approval.

Selection criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in field such as Education, Management, International Development, or relevant field is preferred
  • A minimum of 1 years' experience providing support to a large program or organisation
  • Demonstrated experience preparing high quality and engaging communications products for various mediums including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating events, promotion and/or social activities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite is essential
  • Familiarity with Australian higher education is desirable.
