The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a Compliance Officer to our Public Assistance team based in a Hybrid capacityworking out of our Maitland, Florida office or in a fully Remote capacity for the ideal candidate

Travel required

Onsite client management, working from a Tetra Tech office if geographically available or from home office.  Frequent travel may be required as expected to support a disaster response project. Conduct site visits to evaluate performance, provide coaching, and ensure adherence to protocols.

Your Role:

The Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enforcing organizational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and compliance practices. This role ensures that operational and regulatory requirements are clearly documented, communicated, and implemented across all applicable business units. The Compliance Officer works closely with leadership, legal, training professionals, and operational teams to promote adherence to internal standards and external regulations.

SOP and Policy Development

·       Develop, update, and standardize SOPs and internal policies to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

·       Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate processes into actionable SOPs.

·       Maintain a central repository of current and historical SOPs and policies.

·       Predicts resources needed to reach objectives and manages resources in an effective and efficient manner

Compliance Management and Enforcement

·       Monitor adherence to SOPs and policies through audits, reviews, and feedback mechanisms.

·       Identify non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions or procedural improvements.

·       Lead or assist in internal investigations and After Actions related to process improvement.

·       Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards across all field operations.

 Training and Communication

·       Coordinate with training professionals to design and implement effective training programs on compliance requirements and SOPs.

·       Ensure that training materials accurately reflect current policies and procedures.

·       Facilitate communication of updates to SOPs and policies to ensure organization-wide awareness and understanding.

Continuous Improvement

·       Conduct periodic reviews of SOPs and policies to ensure ongoing relevance and efficiency.

·       Stay current on regulatory changes and evolving industry standards to adjust compliance practices accordingly.

·       Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

Reporting and Documentation

·       Generate compliance reports for leadership and regulatory bodies as needed.

·       Document enforcement actions and maintain records in accordance with compliance protocols.

·       Provides written and oral reports to leadership, contract management and client representatives and provides updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.

·       Develops strategies for achieving project goals and objectives and monitors progress and adjusts as needed including assisting target clients in the planning and timely implementation of their projects

 

Additional tasks may include:

·       Foster new and existing Tetra Tech client relationships with other businesses within the industry with an emphasis on expanding Tetra Tech's disaster recovery client base nationally.

·       Manage aspects of business development and client relations including performing market assessments, client identification, and matching client needs with Tetra Tech technical capabilities.

·       Develop business opportunities that meet Tetra Tech goals and objectives at a national or regional level.

·       Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.

·       Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.

·       Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.

·       Additional duties as required.

Qualifications: 

Required:

·       Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.

·       3–5 years of experience in developing, maintaining, or coordinating standard operating procedures, business processes, or internal documentation.

·       Strong written communication and organizational skills, with attention to clarity, consistency, and detail.

·       Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.

·       Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

·       Flexible, able to immediately adapt to changing priorities

Preferred:

·       Ability to provide previous work product for consideration.

·       Experience in process improvement, operations, quality assurance, or project coordination.

·       Familiarity with document control systems or knowledge management tools.

·       Experience working in a structured or mission-driven organization (e.g., public sector, consulting, nonprofit).

·       Exposure to or coordination with training and onboarding programs.
