The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is seeking an Entry-Level Roadway Designer to join our Transportation team in Miami, FL. This full-time, on-site role supports FDOT transportation projects and provides hands-on experience in roadway design, plans production, and engineering analysis under the guidance of senior engineers.

Position Summary:
This role supports the development of FDOT transportation projects by assisting senior engineers with roadway design, modeling, calculations, and plans production. The Entry-Level Roadway Designer will gain exposure to multidisciplinary workflows and FDOT project standards.
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
⦁ Assist in preparing FDOT plans production, including roadway geometry, typical sections, cross sections, signing and pavement marking plans, maintenance-of-traffic plans, and quantities.
⦁ Support senior engineers in completing Design-Bid-Build project deliverables.
⦁ Perform engineering calculations, design checks, and modeling tasks.
⦁ Use FDOT-related software tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), and FDOT CADD resources.
⦁ Assist with development of reports, technical memos, and permitting documentation.
⦁ Coordinate with internal team members across drainage, structures, traffic, and other disciplines.
⦁ Maintain organized project files and documentation.
Required Qualifications:
⦁ Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
⦁ Entry-level experience, 0 to 2 years.
⦁ Working knowledge or exposure to FDOT plans production standards, processes, and manuals.
⦁ Familiarity with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer, or willingness to learn quickly.
⦁ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
⦁ Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
⦁ EI certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
Physical Requirements:
⦁ Ability to perform office-based work for extended periods, including working at a computer.
⦁ Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
⦁ Occasional fieldwork may be required, involving walking on uneven terrain.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
⦁ Primarily office environment with occasional field activities.
⦁ Moderate noise levels typical of office and field settings.
⦁ Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions during site visits.
Additional Information:
⦁ Full-time, on-site position based in Miami, FL.
⦁ Standard business hours with flexibility based on project requirements.
⦁ Occasional local travel may be required for site visits or team coordination.
