Tetra Tech is currently seeking a part-time, Environmental Scientist.   This position may be remote from North Carolina.

Response, assessment, and evaluation services (RAES) are parts of a larger program addressing with abandoned mines. You will work with a team of scientists and engineers that are leading the industry and committed to supporting your skill development. 

You will support the program in the following areas:
•    Perform Preliminary Site Assessments (PA), Site Inspections (SI), Expanded Site Inspections (ESI), and Removal Site Evaluations (RSE)/Remedial Investigation (RI). 
•    Evaluate the impacts of abandoned mines on human health and the environment. 
•    Work to identify and implement measures to resolve contamination in the environment. 
•    Learn and implement complex radiological monitoring techniques and site characterization studies. Support field work to conduct site assessments and corrective actions. 
•    Execute assignments that have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.

Qualifications

•    Strong engineering or science backgrounds. 
•    Excellent communication skills. 
•    Statistics background a plus. 
•    Geographic Information System (GIS) background a plus.


Degree / Certifications
•    BS in engineering or physical science from an accredited college or university. 
•    40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training is a plus.
 


Work Environment
This position requires roughly 20 -35% travel. The field work is anticipated to be in remote areas of Arizona and New Mexico. You must be able to: 
•    Carry field equipment (35 to 40 pounds)
•    Don personal protective gear as needed. 
•    Work outdoor during all seasons, both hot and cold.
•    Walk on various terrains. 
•    Drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
