- Support MoET to deliver high-quality infrastructure projects across Vanuatu, and advise on post-earthquake recovery efforts
Overview
Key responsibilities
This role is embedded within MoET's Administration and Asset Management Unit (AAMU) and will focus on supporting the planning, management, and delivery of school infrastructure projects while mentoring local staff and strengthening institutional systems.
- Provide oversight for project planning, procurement, construction, and delivery of education facilities, including disaster recovery programs and a Five-Year Capital Works Implementation Plan.
- Review and enhance project documentation, including design drawings, schedules of work, and technical specifications.
- Advise on contractor management and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and fiduciary standards.
- Foster clear communication and collaboration between MoET, the Australian High Commission, and other stakeholders.
- Build the capacity of AAMU staff through training, mentoring, and the development of disaster preparedness and recovery mechanisms.
- Strengthen MoET's asset management systems to ensure the sustainable maintenance of education infrastructure.
Selection criteria
You will be a dynamic and experienced professional with:
- A degree in structural engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Proven experience managing infrastructure projects, preferably in education or the Pacific region.
- Strong skills in project planning, procurement, and contract management.
- Exceptional relationship management and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
- A commitment to mentoring and building capacity in local teams.
- Experience in disaster recovery and resilience building is an advantage.
