Job Details:
Canadian Projects Limited (CPL), a Tetra Tech Company is seeking experienced seeking an Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our exciting renewable energy team in Ontario or Alberta. The successful candidate will be required to provide hydrotechnical leadership and experience on small ($10M) to large ($400M) hydropower design projects. The individual will develop analysis plans and will contribute to design activities to ensure project goals are met. In addition, the individual will provide hydrotechnical leadership to a variety of consulting assignments ensuring value to our clients is maintained. To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Responsibilities:
Hydrological Analysis
- Hydrology primarily in mountainous regions
- Determination of the low flow regime
- Statistical analysis of the flood flows
- Understanding sediment transport fundamentals
Hydrotechnical Modelling
- Uses various software tools for analysis
- Develops modeling approaches
- Preparation of effective summaries
Hydrotechnical Design
- River engineering hydraulic analysis
- Hydraulic structures design of weirs, intakes and dams
- System hydraulic analysis
Regulatory Technical Submissions
- Project definition documents
- Variety of hydrotechnical reports
- Technical permitting documents
Energy and Economic Evaluations
- Hydro plant energy analysis
- Economic analysis
- Understanding of capital costing
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) or Engineering (B. Eng.) in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) registration in at least one Canadian jurisdiction (preferably Alberta or Ontario).
- At least 6 years of Canadian Consulting Engineering experience.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and capable of working on several major projects simultaneously.
- Strong written, verbal and technical communication, and critical thinking skills. Ability to express ideas effectively and professionally to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Well-organized with the ability to manage and prioritize tasks to best meet project schedules.
- Proficient in the Microsoft 365 platform including Teams and SharePoint. Expert skills in Microsoft Excel would be a benefit.
