Summary: 

Tetra Tech invites you to consider a rewarding opportunity as an Operation & Maintenance Manager. The O&M Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of activities related to groundwater remediation systems. This position will require expertise in managing remediation projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and optimizing system performance to achieve groundwater quality goals and meet client needs. 

This position is available in the following locations: San Diego, CA, Sacramento, CA, Tucson, AZ, and Phoenix, AZ.

Your Role:

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of groundwater remediation systems.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols to ensure safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor system performance through regular inspections, data collection, and analysis to ensure effective contaminant removal and compliance with remediation objectives.
  • Ensure all remediation activities comply with environmental regulations, permits, and standards set by regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare and submit required reports, monitoring data, and documentation.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to optimize system reliability and longevity.
  • Identify and troubleshoot operational issues, recommending corrective actions and system upgrades as needed.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and maintenance practices.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff, providing guidance on best practices, safety protocols, and technical procedures.
  • Coordinate maintenance of remediation systems and associated well pumping locations.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, expectations, and project requirements.
  • Communicate project updates, milestones, and deliverables to clients in a clear, timely, and professional manner.
  • Participate in meetings, presentations, and discussion related to remediation strategies, performance evaluations, and project milestones.
  • Stay up to date with state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 25+ years of direct experience with groundwater remediation systems.
  • Professional certification preferred but not required (PG, CHMM, PMP, etc.). 
  • Direct experience managing projects, mentoring, and overseeing junior staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of remediation technologies, treatment systems, and groundwater quality assessment methods.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel, oversee, and perform field work related to groundwater remediation systems, sampling, installation, and maintenance as needed (approximately 20% of travel/field work required).
  • A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Target salary range: $80,000 to $90,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
