Project Summary:

The USAID Communications and Development Support (C4D) five-year project will support the implementation of Outreach and Communication Strategies, as well as regional communications for USAID/Kenya and East Africa and USAID/Somalia. The project will use strategic communications approaches to engage stakeholders within Kenya, East Africa, and Somalia on U.S. Government strategic objectives.

Position Summary:

The Production Intern will be a part of the internship program supporting the USAID mission in Kenya. The position will report to their assigned supervisor and be based in MSI's Nairobi field office, with the option to work remotely, as needed. Internships require a minimum part-time commitment of 25 hours per week or a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week during regular business hours, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. The ideal availability for this role before July 15, 2024. This is a paid position, and we anticipate the candidate starting soonest after presenting an offer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating photo and video coverage with staff, consultants, and project partners including helping with in-person photography and videography sessions.
  • Support the design and execution of photography and video projects from concept to completion, including planning, fieldwork, and post-production.
  • Help track incoming and anticipated content needs to ensure timely delivery.
  • Participate in storyboarding sessions to help visualize project concepts.
  • Help coordinate with photography and videography vendors to maintain a cloud-based audio-visual library.
  • Assist in managing the YouTube channel by uploading, captioning, and tracking video performance.
  • Support the creation of social media content, including short videos and shareable visuals.
  • Perform any other assigned duties as established with the intern's supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in bachelor's degree program in communications, marketing, graphic design, multimedia, or a related field is required.
  • Currently enrolled in a master's degree program in communications, marketing, graphic design, multimedia, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work with non-governmental organizations, donors, development partners, or media organizations required.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines required.
  • Ability to be proactive, solve problems, and work independently and in a highly collaborative environment required.
  • Ability to adapt to various demands, demonstrate a high level of client service and response, and handle confidential information discreetly required.
  • Strong oral and written communication, numerical, proofreading, attention to detail, and organizational skills required.
  • Proficiency in standard software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Adobe Suite including Adobe Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop, and other products, and Google Suite is required.
  • Fluency in English required.
