Summary:

Tetra Tech's Houston, TX office is seeking a full-time Project/Accounting Clerk to provide general accounting and financial analysis support on the current day to day operation. The successful candidate will perform a variety of accounting, finance, and administrative duties in multiple areas. The position is considered a supporting role for the Finance and Project Accounting teams.

 

Your Role:

  • Assist in daily and monthly closing process.
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries.
  • Assist in special Accounting related projects as needed.
  • Perform basic balance sheet account and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain and administer various company credit cards for multiple employees within the organization.
  • Provide support to the Project Accounting team for assigned project managers. Such as:
    • New project set-up within the project accounting ERP system.
    • Invoice review, reconciliation, preparation and submittal.
    • Assist Project Managers in tracking project budgets, actual costs, and budget variances on a weekly basis.
    • Project/task cost history tracking and project file maintenance.
    • Track client invoice submittals and status of account receivables.
    • Provide internal monthly reports, as required, for overall project financial status, including unbilled revenue and work in progress (WIP), funding and revenue adjustments including Work at Risk (WAR) and client funding authorizations.
    • Assist with quarterly Project Evaluation, Estimate at Completion (PEEAC) review meetings as requested.

Qualifications:

  • At a minimum an Associate's degree or working towards one in accounting, finance, or related field with at least 6 months of related experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as financial statements, invoices, and payment records.
  • Ability to search for pertinent facts and data, analyze and evaluate information, and form accurate conclusions.
  • Ability to communicate in English effectively with employees and clients. Ability to effectively respond to an interact with multiple levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations is essential.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and express conclusions and results in clear written and oral reports.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel and Word.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment. Provide consistent attention to detail with the ability to follow tasks to completion.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks under supervision, and independently.
  • A Pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations may be required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
